BOXA was approached by the client for the urgent need to house their new lodge manager. The urgency of this project makes BOXA stand out from traditional, time consuming building conventions. From the date of appointment BOXA were on site within 10 weeks with a full turnkey housing solution for the manager.
The site conditions presented unique challenges, with restricted access through thick coastal forest and minimal space for staging materials. BOXA’s modular design allowed for precision-planned deliveries and rapid assembly with minimal disturbance to the surrounding environment. Each panel was prefabricated off-site, reducing construction traffic and noise, while ensuring that the ecological sensitivity of the reserve remained uncompromised. This careful approach not only met the client’s operational needs but also aligned with their conservation ethos.
Beyond speed and environmental sensitivity, the project highlights BOXA’s adaptability. The H3.1 unit provided a fully serviced living space tailored to the manager’s requirements, integrating energy-efficient systems and durable finishes designed for longevity in a humid forest climate. This installation demonstrates how BOXA’s building system can be deployed in demanding locations without sacrificing comfort, quality, or sustainability, thus setting a precedent for future lodge and eco-tourism developments.
