PROJECTS

Why Boxa

BOXA makes building simple, fast and reliable. Our turnkey solutions are engineered, prefabricated and factory finished to be assembled in just days, not months—cutting out the complexity, risks, and endless snags that slow traditional construction. By minimising time and disruption on site, we help operators keep their focus on their guests and operations without interruption.

The BOXA building system is specifically designed and engineered for remote and challenging locations, where timeframes are tight and conditions demand efficiency. From back-of-house facilities and staff housing to workspaces and communal areas, our solutions are delivered to perform with durability and consistency, no matter the environment.

With BOXA, you have a partner that will take the time to understand your specific challenges and needs, and tailor transformative solutions that will deliver lasting value from day 1.

ABOUT Boxa

BOXA is part of the Sustainabuild Group, a cohesive ecosystem that delivers end-to-end sustainable building solutions from design through fabrication and installation.

Through Mass Timber Technologies (MTT) and Sustainabuild Installation Projects, we harness state-of-the-art prefabrication, digital modelling (BIM), structural engineering, and professional project management to ensure high precision and efficiency. The foundation of BOXA’s building system is Mass Engineered Timber (MET) which gets manufactured by MTT and this includes Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glue-Laminated Timber (GLT). This allows BOXA units to offer exceptional strength-to-weight ratios, excellent thermal performance, low on-site disturbance, and carbon benefits.

Mass engineered timber is pivotal to BOXA, enabling durability, fast assembly, minimal site waste, and a lighter environmental footprint. With the Sustainabuild Group you get a holistic approach to the future of building design.

Mass Engineered Timber (MET)

Mass Engineered Timber (MET)

The BOXA Building system is developed around innovative next-generation building materials and systems that substantially reduce embodied carbon, environmental impacts and life-cycle costs relative to conventional construction methods.

Fundamental to the BOXA building system is the use of mass engineered timber (MET) components, specifically cross-laminated timber (CLT) wall and floor panels that eliminate the use of masonry & concrete, and glue-laminated timber (GLT) structural beams that eliminate the use of steel.

BENEFITS OF CLT

Minimal footprint

Minimal footprint

Designed for sensitive and remote environments, BOXA buildings leave a light footprint — both ecologically and physically. Our systems require minimal site disturbance, with reduced foundation needs and low-impact materials. Every BOXA unit is designed to tread lightly, aligning with off-grid living, conservation goals, or eco-conscious developments.

Durable construction

Durable Construction

BOXA buildings are made to endure. From harsh weather to rugged terrain, our engineered timber systems are built for long-term strength and stability. With high-performance finishes, moisture protection, and robust structural integrity, BOXA structures deliver lasting value and reliability in even the most challenging environments.

Assembled in days

Assembled in days

Speed meets precision with BOXA. Our prefabricated timber systems are delivered ready for rapid on-site assembly — often within just a few days. This streamlined approach reduces disruption, labour time, and logistics, making it the ideal solution for remote locations or time-sensitive projects.

FAQ

The Factory

The team

What is a prefabricated timber building?
A prefabricated (prefab) building is made off-site in standardised sections and assembled on-site.

  • Faster construction
  • Reduced waste
  • Lower labor costs
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Better quality control

What type of foundation is required?
BOXA units use a rapid-install, load-bearing galvanised steel micro-pile system supporting a treated engineered timber subframe.

  • Minimal environmental impact: no digging, cement, water, or curing time
  • Suitable for most soil types; chemical anchors for rocky ground
  • Additional lateral micro-piles and stainless steel bracing ensure stability for elevated floors (>1 m)

Is there a warranty?

  • Conditional 10-year structural warranty
  • Recommended: Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Sustainabuild for ongoing maintenance.

Our Germiston facility is the heart of BOXA’s precision and innovation. Equipped with advanced machinery and a 7-axis robotic arm, the factory enables highly accurate, repeatable production of Mass Engineered Timber components.

This cutting-edge automation ensures exceptional quality, efficiency, and scalability — allowing us to deliver rapid-build systems with unmatched consistency and speed.

Behind every BOXA building is a dedicated team of skilled artisans, installation specialists, project managers, and support staff who bring each project to life.

From precision joinery on the factory floor to seamless on-site assembly in remote locations, our team ensures every step runs smoothly.

Backed by careful planning and hands-on expertise, BOXA buildings are delivered and installed with care, speed, and professionalism — every time.
